International students in Malaysia are allowed to work while studying according to the laws of Malaysia, but such student must have a student permit or pass to work while studying.
Working as a student enables students to make some money while in school to support their studies and earn extra pocket money for traveling and leisure activities. Students are only allowed to work part-time for a maximum of 20 hours per week during festive holidays and semester breaks.
International students are allowed to work in petrol kiosks, restaurants, hotels and hotels mini markets.
To apply for student pass applicants must submit:
- A photocopy of their passport pages
- Address, Contact number and letter from the prospective employer
- A fee of RM120.00. Non-refundable
- Students who wish to work and have submitted the above documents will be interviewed, after which the application will be either approved or declined and then thе passport оf ѕtudеntѕ whose application has bееn аррrоvеd wіll bе еndоrѕеd accordingly.
